Luxury packaging incorporates more advanced techniques and hand finishing into paper over board packaging. Some styles are combining multiple box elements together and others are just extra details to give the packaging that extra high-end finish. More premium materials and printing techniques materials are often used to really enhance the finish of the box to make it more luxurious. Typically for these styles of box we are better suited to smaller quantities as there is a lot of hand finishing involved, so the costs are higher. We typically specialise between 50 and 250 copies or more premium packaging.
A Solander box is a luxury box that is often used to hold collector edition books and important documents. When opened it sits flat on a table to allow access to the product inside the box. This is ideal for books as it can be gripped by the spine and removed easily.
Made from a 3 piece case using 3mm cardboard and then two 3-sided trays from 2mm card, one stuck each side of the case. The trays are V routed so they meet up perfectly with the case. We are often using premium leatherette papers for the covering and heavy debossed foiling artwork to the front cover and spine.

A premium luxury finish for our boxes is V routing. This is where the material is routed with a V shaped groove on the inside on the box. When folded up the V gap closes and means that the outside edge of the fold is sharper.
The normal way we make boxes is to score the outside of the cardboard. When the box is folded up this gap opens and creates a slightly rounded fold. The thicker the cardboard the more rounded the fold.
